Fashion Photography
Fashion photography is usually taken at a photo shoot or catwalk. These photos are used to show off fashion and give some ideas which are used for magazines.
Fashion photography has been around since 1839, the thought of taking pictures of clothes to make them sell, wasn't invented until 1839 that's when fashion photography was known.

Peter Lindeburgh takes photos of models such as Kate Moss, most of these as head-shots. Most of this work is don't in grey scale not colour. I like his work as most of them tend to have a pose, usually including a hand pose. I appreciate the light and dark contrasts and also like the fact that they are cropped and not all full head shots. I have also found out that Lindeburgh.

This photographer Solve Sundsbo, creates unusual photographs and illusions. His photography isn't like most fashion photographers. He mainly uses light and textures to create his wild effects. He changes the colour of backgrounds and images, either using all one colour or black and white with accented colour pigments. Many of his shots are either full length or just head shots, but he has unusual and individual poses for each image. Many of these look quite surreal and appear to be from another world.
Richard Avedon is one of the older and more experienced photographers all of his photography is in black and white and grey scale. Many of his works are of famous celebrities such as Marylin Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. I like many of his works as they use simplicity and are minimalist just a simple photograph of the person to show their true beauty and not using all effects, just the model and that's it. I think the way he sets up each photo is great and like the composition with all the individual poses.

All of these photographers demonstrate Fashion Photography but you can see how through time the photographs have changed, such as Richard Avedons work is the oldest pieces of work on here his work is all black and white and its very minimalistic a woman rib cage and above most looking at the camera with white highlights on the dark areas, then in contrast one of the more recent photographers Solve Sundsbo and his work is very different as he uses sort of light projector to project these patterns onto his models faces and hes used bright colors in certain places to make a section of the face stand out. He also able to duplicate his images so able to make a more creative image. Photography has developed very quickly and there are now resources which is able to make photography more creative and also programs that can be used to edit photographs better now.
Fashion photography started in the late 1800's, magazines such as Harpers Bazar and Vogue were one of the first as they used Fashion Photography using the models to show off the clothes. Vogue had used some of the best Fashion Photographers including Adolphe De Meyer who was considered to be the first Fashion Photographer. As photography has developed and improved so have the images and inspirations, such as David Bailey is a well known Fashion Photographer he was just as famous as the photographs of the celebrities he took, such as the rolling stones and the Beatles. He and a couple of other artists created a visual component called the 'Swinging London' which was supposed to be quite fun and enjoyable. There is a street in London where its famous for fashion called Carnaby Street, which started off as one little clothes shop and loads formed and became a very popular street if you wanted high fashion. Looking how photography has changed throughout the years, through techniques and image quality.
