1845- First photo of the sun was taken by Leon Foucault and Louis Fizeau, the exposure time was 1/60th of a second. The picture size was about 4.7 inches using a process called Daguerreotype which is using a silver or copper plate then using light and using Iodine.

1826- This was the first image invented by Niepce which took 8 hours of exposure in sunlight, that is why both sides of the roof is lit, as the photograph was captured while the sun was exposed on both sides of the roof.

1847- The first photos of whats believed to be Amputation of a Sergeants leg during the Mexican-American World War. 

1850- First positive photo prints on paper. Also known as albumen silver print, as it uses the albumen which is found in egg whites. To bind photographic chemicals to paper.

1851- The first wet plate process was invented. the process involves photographic chemicals being put onto a glass sheet then when the chemicals turn to a gel put into silver nitrate, and when the chemical process is complete then it is exposed in a camera while still wet.

1861- First colour photos were invented. Taken by James Clerk Maxwell, he created the image of a large tartan ribbon and took three photos each time using a different filter red, blue and yellow, then combining them all together at the end.

1839- The first photo of a person was invented by Louis Daguerre. It was originally a photograph taken of Boulevard Du Temple in Paris, but believed to be the first photo of a person, it was unintentional.

1880- Dry plate established, by George Eastman, which found it easier and more appropriate to use a gelatin dry plate rather than a messy wet plate.

1900- Kodak makes first box camera, called the Brownie. It was a simple cardboard box camera with a simple lens, using the slogan " you push the button we do the rest", trying to make it as simple as possible.

1963- Polaroid releases first instant film. First automatic pack film camera that includes automatic exposure control. Instant colour film.

1975- First digital camera invented, this camera didn't use a film to record all of the photographs it used a CCD  imager and it recorded onto a normal cassette then images were taken off the cassette.

1991- First SLR released. the images were stored separately on a different unit to the camera is was released by Kodak.

2000- First camera phone it was introduced by Samsung and was able to able 20 photos at a 350,000 pixel resolution (0.35 megapixels) but had to be connected to a computer to get the photos.

1957- First image scanned into a digital computer produced by Russell Kirsch which was a photograph scanned into his computer of his three month old son. It was low resolution as the computer they were using wasn't capable of storing more information.

Up to date technology is expanding vastly.

1855- Pictorialism is the movement that be came most prominent and in demand its where photographers can manipulate their images instead of them being straight forward and obvious be slightly twisted which many didn't agree with and believe they should be straight forward images.

1920- Surrealism allowed photographers to experiment with their photographs and try out more new and creative ideas. There was no end to possibility with creation, no boundaries.

1905- Expressionism a way of expressing emotions through photographs and being able to express how you want to through a photograph. often the photograph to try to make you discover other emotions which arnt directly on the photograph makes you think.
